You have two options for regaining access to Akin email: 

1. Install and configure Outlook Mobile yourself

2. Reach out to IT for guided installation 

Outlook Desktop App: 

Akin IT will take care of upgrading email in Outlook on your computer. No additional steps are needed by you.

Pre-Migration FAQs

How much storage does my mobile device need for the upgrade?


Make sure your device has at least 1.2 GB of available storage space for the upgrade.

Do you have Stolen Device Protection disabled? (Apple iOS Only)


Turn off Stolen Device Protection on your iPhone for at least an hour before enrolling your phone. You can turn this feature on after your phone is enrolled with the firm and set up.

Check if you have Stolen Device Protection enabled:

1.Open Settings.

2.Select “Face ID & Passcode.” If you have a passcode set up, you will need to enter it to continue.

3.Scroll down to “Stolen Device Protection”. It will be labeled “On” or “Off.” 

Note: Face ID needs to be set up with Apple to enable Stolen Device Protection. If you don’t see the Stolen Device Protection feature, Face ID is likely not set up. 


Can I access email during the upgrade?


Outlook Desktop App

Your email will be temporarily unavailable for approximately an hour during the specified date and time of your email upgrade. All functionalities will resume after your email upgrade is complete. 

Mobile Devices

Email access will be automatically removed from your mobile device at the specific date and time of your email upgrade. You must re-enroll your mobile device after the upgrade is completed to regain mobile access to Akin email.


Is a specific OS version required on my mobile device?


Your device must meet the minimum requirements:

Apple: iOS 17.2 or above

Android: OS 12.0 or above

Do I need to do anything with Outlook before the upgrade?


For your computer upgrade, make sure Outlook is closed before the upgrade begins. If left open, a computer restart will be required for Outlook to regain functionality after the update.

How do I prepare for the upgrade?


The Outlook Mobile app is the new way to access Akin email on your phone. After upgrading, you'll need to re-enroll your mobile device to regain access to Akin resources.

How long does it take for apps to arrive once I enroll?


Apps should arrive within 30 minutes after enrollment. If no apps appear; you can try restarting your phone or reach out to the Help Desk. A member of the IT support team can force a sync of your device to push the apps once more.

How do I request assistance enrolling my mobile device?


Contact IT Support to request assistance by phone or email.

Will my eSignature still be in place on mobile email after the upgrade?


No. You will need to add your Akin eSignature to your Outlook Mobile app settings.

1. Tap your avatar in the upper left corner of the Outlook mobile app.

2. Select the Settings icon.

3. Under Quick Settings, select Signatures

4. Write your signature. (Recommended: Copy your Akin signature from a message in the Sent folder and paste it in this field.)

5. Select the checkmark to save your changes.

How do I turn on Outlook Mobile email notifications?


Akin email notifications will not be enabled by default. To turn on notifications:

1. Tap your avatar in the upper left corner of the Outlook mobile app.

2. Select the Settings icon

3. Select Notifications.

4. Under Mail, change which email accounts you wish to receive notifications.

5. Under Calendar, change notifications settings per your preference.

How do I view my Akin calendar on my Home screen?

My OneNote mobile app isn't synchronizing with my work laptop

The OneNote mobile app must be downloaded directly from within your work profile (Android) using the work play store, or within the company portal app (iOS). You cannot use a personal OneNote app.
